  • This is by far my favorite True Food Kitchen location and I've been to it several times - each time nearly as awesome as the one that came before it. I love to visit True Food Kitchen on a seasonal basis to try something new each season. I wasn't planning on visiting True Food Kitchen, until they twisted my arm with an offer I couldn't resist.. their Trick or Treat Yourself promotion. Seriously, the best thing I've received for Halloween since I was a kid and dressed up going door to door! I strongly recommend signing up for their e-mails so you don't miss out on future treats. We sat outside which was lovely, but a little chillier than I had anticipated, which unfortunately impeded my ability to order their Sea Buckthorn Sorbet (though our waitress was kind enough to provide us with a mini taste and its amazing.. but I'm going to have to come back during the day for this one). For beverages, my husband got the Prosecco, and I ordered the Medicine Man. If you like cranberry juice, this one will be a hit, the pomegranate seeds are a nice touch, but sometimes get lodged in the straw. We shared the Kale Guacamole and I've had my fill of guacamole of every variety and variant, but this one was new with the pink grapefruit, cilantro, roasted poblano, sunflower seeds and of course kale. Wow! This is a keeper and I would definitely order it again, even my husband who hates grapefruit and kale was incredibly surprised how delicious it was. There is tons of guacamole to share, the lavash crackers it is served with is delicious, but you will probably need to ask for extra. We then were tied on what pizza to order, our waitress recommended we order half and half. Great suggestion, but one teensy complaint.. they charge you for the most expensive pizza and our waitress unfortunately did not communicate this. We ordered the Butternut Squash pizza $15 with their absolutely delicious vegan almond ricotta and the classic Margherita $12. I would love to see True Food Kitchen either average the amount to $13 or go with the lowest, or even just tell the customer up front how it will be billed! We shared the T.L.T. sandwich.. which I was very apprehensive about, but curious. Our waitress reminded us that if there was something we didn't like, they would be happy to replace it with something else. I've never had a good relationship with tempeh, in fact I've gone over a decade avoiding it because my experience has never been great. I kept hearing people rave about the T.L.T. and came to two conclusions: 1) everyone has lost their mind 2) True Food Kitchen actually knows the secret to making tempeh taste great. I decided to live dangerously and pulled out a piece of the tempeh bacon from the sandwich when it arrived. It wasn't quite bacon, but it was still delicious - it was almost like a smoked piece of chicken breast? So there it was, the correct conclusion was 2) True Food Kitchen actually knows the secret to making tempeh taste great. I am happy to announce I would even order the T.L.T. again, it's healthy, nutritious, and best of all vegan - the portion size is great! I ended up ordering a tried and true favorite for dessert, the Squash Pie, which did not disappoint. You will not believe it's vegan AND gluten free. Yum! Certainly enough for two to share! Overall service was good, my waitress Danielle was great with a fantastic attitude. My only other critique regarding service was it started up exceptionally well timed and fantastic, and became very slow as more tables were added to her responsibility. Everything was running smoothly, we sat down around 5:40pm, we breezed through beverages, appetizers, and entrees without a hitch. The entrees came around 6:10pm and we finished about 15 minutes later and waited and waited. Ordered dessert at 6:45pm and about 7:00pm our box for the pizza and dessert came, along with the receipt. Our waitress forgot to punch in the discount, and I provided her with the gift card I had, she adjusted the amount when the transaction which was put through which was good. It took another 15 minutes before we got the receipt back and I opted to tip in cash because I didn't really want to wait another 15 minutes. This visit was so close to being a 5 star, minus the points I've addressed here! Darn! Maybe next time. P.S. Sorry the photos are a little dark, but the lighting was not great outside!
