  • I have to concur with much of the comments. I especially agree with David S., above. A few of the Vistek reps I have dealt with were good; however, as David said, the "folks that work on the 3rd floor" have an attitude. They act all high-and-mighty. I would even call one of them arrogant. Last year, a friend of mine bought a camera from a 3rd floor rep. Out of respect, I won't name any names. She received some attitude. When she opted to get a cheaper memory card elsewhere, he made a snide remark, saying that "those cards aren't made for cameras". Puh-lease! She wasn't impressed. I didn't think much of it. Everyone is allowed to have a bad day once in a while. This year, I needed to special order some gear. Lighting they didn't typically stock in the store. Once again, it was a 3rd floor rep. My experience has been similar to David's AND Benjamin's (above). My gear was ordered and I was told it would arrive in a week. No problem. A week rolls by with no word. I call up the 3rd floor rep. He says there was a delay. No problem, let's give it another week, he says. The same thing happens again next week. Again, it was me who had to ask for the order status. The third week rolls around. This time, I didn't have to chase him for an update. He emails me to say there was a problem with my order. There wasn't a hint of an apology. It was only when I finally complained did he offer his regrets. I finally got my lights after four weeks. He gave me a discount on an extended warranty--after I asked for it. "That's the best I could do," he said. Perhaps Vistek can afford to be so smug because of their vast selection and their corner on the market (on certain things). To sum up: Unfortunately, I'll have to go to Vistek for specialized, harder-to-find equipment. If you are thinking of buying some gear, I would suggest you check out the smaller independent retailers in the city. Downtown Camera, Aden, etc. I haven't had a bad experience at Henry's. I would try them, too. Unfortunately, they cannot match Vistek's selection. I would NOT give any more of my business to Vistek unless I had to. I would suggest the same for everyone else until they get their act cleaned up.
