I've been meaning to come to this place years ago when they first opened but never had the opportunity to do so.. either because something came up or the long was awfully long. However the opportunity presented it self as I had to visit Heinz History Center for a morning event. Since it was only few minutes walk from the center, it was the perfect excuse and time to finally pay Gaucho a visit.
Although there wasn't any line outside, the inside line was a different story. The order line was pretty cramped and right around to a point where any additional people would have to wait outside. As I was standing on the line - the long list of menu on the chalk board was somewhat overwhelming but you can always ask to the people before or after you for recommendation. And pretty much everyone will recommend something different. I looked up on Yelp and since I was craving beef - I went with the Rosemary Roasted Beef. I also ordered a "Dog Bone" .. Yes you heard me correct - A Dog Bone for my new puppy :)
The folks behind the counter are super friendly and helpful. Once you order, someone will guide you to a seat and your food will be at the table in no time. If you are with someone - I would recommend both ordering something different since the sandwiches are pretty big that you can actually split among the two. However, I cleaned out the entire sandwich by myself. The roast beef juicy, well seasoned and just cooked to perfection. Caramelized onion and horsey sauce made it just perfect without overpowering the roast beef. If you want more variety of flavors there are 4 specialty sauces that you can add.
The atmosphere here is very casual, industrial like or may be I should say farmhouse like (specially with all the stacked woods) and lively. Everything is reasonably priced especially for the portion you get. Like me don't let the long lines discourage you. It's definitely worth a visit.
