| - Terrible customer service (in fact I'm pretty sure the one star review by Denise F. was a member of one of the other groups that had the same seats as we did)!
We went to see the new Star Wars movie tonight, there were 6 of us total in our group. We purchased the tickets online months ago, only to find out they double booked all of our seats, but only after we got to the theater and bought $50 worth of snacks and drinks and tried to sit in our seats. My husband and I, along with one of the other people that had booked the same seats went to find someone to help us. We were taken to the ticket counter by an employee and the manager was called. The manger, Brandon, got off to a bad start by acting like he was inconvenienced to even have to deal with this. When we told him our issue he blamed Fandango, and the best solution he could offer, according to him, was to refund our money and give us free passes to another show of our choosing.
The issue was that we had three very excited children who have been waiting months to see this movie (along with everyone else who booked those same seats months ago), and we would have had to wait at least a week or two to see it because it is the new Star Wars movie and all the seats until then would have been reserved. Just seeing the movie for free would have not been enough of a compensation to justify losing our seats on a Star Wars official premier night because of an error on their part. Brandon's response to that was that Star Wars was just another movie, like he couldn't understand what the big deal was. Yes, the manager of this AMC couldn't understand why we were upset. He was adamant that he couldn't do anything more for us, but after realizing yet another person with the same booked seats had also come to the ticket counter he blew up and said, "fine! I'll give you as many free passes as you want! You all need to figure out who's giving up their seats!" So instead of offering more compensation to the point that someone would be satisfied enough to give up their seats, he made us do his job for him and resolve the issue by ourselves. He never once apologized to any of us.
Eventually the two other groups decided they would give up their seats and my group of 6 were able to stay. The other groups were extremely nice and we really lucked out because we would have missed the start of the movie if it went on much longer.
To avoid situations like this in the future we will also never purchase tickets through Fandango again.
