| - **Come for the savory pastries, not the sweets, and you won't be disappointed. If you come for the sweets... you might be,**
Been going here for years, and whenever someone wants a BBQ Pork Bun, I always point them here. The only downside to this place is that you have to be in before 1 or else most of the good stuff is taken, and I work night so I rarely make it here.
The bread they use for their savory pastries (i.e. Japanese Hot Dog, Ham and Cheese corner) is delicious. So buttery, yet somehow not flaky. It's almost as if a croissant and a soft pretzel had a baby and you put meat and cheese in it. Delicious, right?
As I said above, come for the savory things with meat in them. You MUST TRY:
BBQ PORK BUNS-- though now they're half the size of what they used to be, which I don't mind, except that they upped the price for smaller portions. That's never satisfying no matter where you go.
JAPANESE STYLE HOT DOG--I've woken up in the middle of the night and craved this.
HAM AND CHEESE CORNER--Only one slice of ham and once slice of cheese, at times can be too little, but the bread makes up for it. The lack of filling remind me of French sandwiches. Maybe that's the style.
I do enjoy the cream cheese buns and red bean buns and those type of things, but I get those sporadically as I'm in there. The savory stuff is what I come for, and all the sweets are just picked on a whim. I've never disliked anything I've had here, though.
I hear a lot of people complain that the cakes and tarts and those things are bland and overpriced, so as I said, if you come for those, you may be disappointed, which is why I took off a star. Other than that, this place is my favorite bakery.
