We love coming here for almost all of our asian necessities. What helps also is that it is within our vicinity. We have been frequenting here since he first opened in that little complex on Ann/Simmons next to the Taco Bell. Roland, the owner, has always been so nice and helpful. He has literally seen our family go from 2 to 6 so all my kids think he is an Uncle. Which goes to show how long we have been coming here and how many times we come. He is very accommodating as to what I am looking for and will even help me dig into his freezer to find it for me.
He has all your basic necessities for all of the filipino dishes. He also sells Hawaiian products, which is great because we catch a Portuguese sausage crave now and then. He does sell other korean/japanese/chinese products as well. Just dont count on a vast inventory from such countries as the majority of his products are filipino fare.
Roland also carries baked goods from Valerio's and some other company (he recently started carrying it so I haven't made an effort to remember its name). I certainly recommend this new vendor's suman! Thee best suman Ive had for the 11 years Ive lived here.
In the freezers I love how he sells pampano! I even caught a day where he had baby galonggongs. It's the perfect little market.
I believe it is Thursdays when he receives the baked goods/filipino desserts, and Fridays when he gets new shipments on vegetables and other items. So if you go in on a Friday, it may look busy because of all his boxes, etc... He keeps his store well maintained unlike other neighborhood filipino stores we have been in. His prices are typically the same as what you would see driving out into the city. If there are items that are a little more expensive than elsewhere, consider it a convenience fee for not having to do the drive.
Highly recommend.
