| - Bottom line: Good diner meal at Diamond Restaurant. The atmosphere, the menu, the food, all of it true to the old school diner experience. Service was attentive, helpful. If I am ever in the neighborhood again and need good ol' comfort food in a classic diner setup, I'll be hitting Diamond again.
The Deets:
While in the CLT area this past weekend, Jay B. and I went out in search of some good comfort food. Always in the mood for good diner fare, Jay brings me to Diamond Restaurant for the evening's meal. It was a great choice, I enjoyed my experience.
It is the perfect diner setting, inside and out. Definitely old school in atmosphere including booths, but also a full service bar in the back as well. Bonus. It's diner on the divey cusp. I dig it. As far as the menu goes, it's full service diner fare with apps, burgers, hot dogs, entrees called House Specials served 11a-9p, salads, subs, sandwiches, and of course breakfast anytime. How can you go wrong with that variety? I went with one of the House Specials in getting the hamburger steak which was an 8oz. chopped sirloin steak, and I got as my side the home-fried potato chips and got the biscuit as well. The biscuit was awesome, soooo good. The home-fried chips were great as well, perfectly done with being crunchy but not over done and brown...golden goodness. The hamburger steak itself had great taste, but from my own fault was a bit dry as I chose not to get the gravy on it. Definitely my oversight. I will remember next time! Service was attentive and helpful, no hiccups there. Overall, a great meal at Diamond Restaurant.
