  • First of all, "Skydive Las Vegas" is super friendly and just as excited as you are to be there. Secondly, since you are reading this, you probably convinced yourself that this is a good idea. If so, you are right! Start the adventure by packing into a shuttle van with others that have come to this same conclusion. Driving down to the jump site you become one of 3 types of people. Either the quiet one listening to voices in your head saying, "This is going to be fun", or the one talking to others in the van trying to distract yourself, fairly sure this will have been a great idea, or the third type who did it before and is trying to convince the others that they have nothing to worry about. When you arrive at the airport and herded into the waiting room you are hit with a waiver that list the risks of jumping out of a plane. Do you really need to read this? A good poster of a bad landing would suffice. You will also be picking out a photo package to immortalize those priceless facial expressions. Next, you go into a small room where you watch a short instructional video. After you are properly informed, your group will make their way to the hanger where you will be suited up with an awesome jumpsuit and harness. If you have any prison experience, this may be familiar. Your tandem jump instructor will grab you and off you go. After boarding, you will be strapped to your dive instructor, facing the rear of the plane. As the plane is gaining altitude, there will be time to take in the views, not at all thinking about the probability that plane will be landing without you. The time has come to disembark this airworthy craft. You will be asked to attempt to sit up on your dive instructors lap. Then, once strapped in, you might resent that he didn't buy you a drink first. With eyes bulging from the pressure of the harness, the rear hatch is opened and your companions start filing out. With every jump, the plane will reel slightly. Remember you convinced yourself this was a great idea! Now, it is your turn, legs dangling out of the plane. Ready, Set, Oh Sh#@! Head back and smiling with fear, heart pounding... don't forget to look around. Jumping over Lake Mead is amazing. The chute is pulled and you will discover a pain in you crotch that is one of those things that can stay in Vegas. Floating to the ground, you already know you will want to do it again. It ends with your shaking legs out for landing and your butt and your future in the hands of the fellow to whom you're strapped. It ends with the ear-to-ear grin. Lets do it again!
