| - A few years back I had gone to Peoria Nissan after they had first opened. They were really nice and helpful and, after I had picked out the car I wanted, promised to have it in by that weekend. When the weekend rolled around they told me to show up and, after waiting for an hour, they finally told me that they didn't have the car. That was enough of that and I ended up buying the car over at Midway.
This last weekend, I went back to Peoria Nissan in search of a Cube. We had a brand new salesman who really didn't know much of anything about selling cars but he was pretty nice. Luckily for him, the car was right up front and he didn't have to hunt for it. I quizzed him on the car and he failed miserably.
Then, the best part of the visit happened. I was sitting in the driver seat, my wife was sitting in the passenger seat. The salesman was standing outside of the passenger door next to my wife. I pointed at a small plug that was under the dash and asked him what it was. At that point, he bent over, stuck his head in my wife's lap, and started looking at the port. I told him "Watch where you put your head there buddy, that's my wife" at which point he stood up. Then, after a few seconds, he bent back over to look at the port. At this point, our friends walked by and saw his head in my wife's lap and started laughing. I finally suggested my wife get out of the car so that he could have a better look. She got out. He still didn't know what the port was for.
After all the fun and games, the sales manager came over to "rescue" the new guy. He was helpful and very informed. He was happy to oblige with every request. This improved the experience very much.
Ultimately we decided against the Cube but if I were going to buy another Nissan, I'd probably go back and ask for the sales manager. I would also leave my wife at home - for her protection.
