| - I'm only giving them 1 star because I have to leave them a star to leave a review.
My best friend moved to Champaign for a new job position and decided to go to American Freight for furniture. I wish we would have read the reviews on Yelp before she paid for furniture to be delivered to her new apartment on move in day.
Move in day: They delivered the sectional and the floor model bed (both were damaged) and told her that her dresser and night stands would be in at a later date... Uh, what?! She specifically went there weeks before her move in day to ensure that her furniture would be squared away on the specific date.
Weeks go by and after countless calls (sometimes they knew about the damaged furniture, sometimes they didn't know new furniture was even requested, and time after time they would delay the delivery)... but hey, they finally delivered the remaining furniture on Friday.. DAMAGED.
She called the company and demanded they just give her a refund and take the furniture back, to which they told her they could not. They said they'd be willing to give her $100 and that they'd swap out the damaged furniture... Obviously she was not satisfied with their compromise. She then called corporate to try and resolve said issue. But hey, THE LADY AT CORPORATE hung up on her. Talk about professionalism.
Last night they said they would inspect the new furniture and THEN deliver it (you'd think they'd always inspect furniture before delivering). When they delivered it and she showed them that this TOO was damaged, they acted appalled and surprised. This part makes me so confused... you mean, you stated you would inspect the furniture to ensure you weren't delivering damaged furniture for the THIRD time.. and when you delivered it - you were surprised when you were shown that it was damaged?! Just a waste of time if you ask me.
I've bought my share of furniture, but I've never dealt with a furniture store that is so relentless with their horrible customer service and lack of client appreciation... no, scratch that - I've never dealt with a furniture store that clearly lacks common ethics. Give her her money back, pick up this obviously damaged furniture (which she refuses to use and has it all in her bedroom corner like a warehouse), give her her money back and try to fix your clearly tarnished reputation.
