| - Often touted as Montreal's best burger, I had to discover whether this establishment was worthy of such fanfare. Having been warned about the lineups, I ventured to the Ontario eatery in my most bundled outfit to brave the cold. I was pleasantly surprised that the wait only took 5 minutes (we were indoors) and were seated in a decent amount of time.
As for ambience, the restaurant is quite cozy and casual. As you may have noticed from the pictures, there are crayons you can use to doodle on the paper placemats, which is pretty fun. Don't expect much space in between yourself and the other patrons, however, so I wouldn't bring a date here (well duh, it's a burger joint...)
Finally, and most importantly, the FOOD. I only ordered one burger, and no sides. The burger I ordered was the SPECIAL, which includes all the regular fixins (lettuce, tomato, mayo, mustard, pickles, mushrooms) AND cream cheese and bacon. I must say, it was an excellent choice. Although the patty was juicy and delicious (it tasted home-made), I would have preferred to have had the burger medium-rare to bring out the flavours. The bacon was cooked JUST right, and the cream cheese and spicy mustard complimented each other in a very unconventional way (so wrong it was right). The show-stopper, however, was not the burger so much as it was the fluffy poppy-seed bun... simply delicious.
My conclusion is that it's a fun restaurant that offers up a tasty (perhaps classier?) burger. I wouldn't go out of my way to come eat here, however, since I prefer the burger at Burgundy Lion (where they do grill it medium-rare if you ask). The combinations here are good, and there's a nice selection of 3 vege-burgers if that's your cup of tea. I've heard the milkshakes are good here, too. I don't know if I'll go back again anytime soon, but it's a decent place to try out.
