First off, you shouldn't expect much out of public laundromats... Unless they are newly opened.
Second, personally, I'm not a big fan of laundromats but when there's no other option, it's all about location and cleanliness to me. There is a laundromat right up the road from our hotel but because of the nearby shops and just the area in general (plus 1 star on Yelp), I took the time to go to a nicer area and look for a laundromat here.
I am here on a Sunday afternoon and it's busy but not packed. I didn't have to wait for any machines considering the amount of people here. I only have two loads so I won't be here longer than an hour. This place is pretty clean and spacious. A lot of machines and the machines are very clean! That is what makes me happiest.
For 2 washers and 1 dryer, I only spent $5. I think it's worth the pleasant experience. Still some homeless in this area (but more than the first laundromat I looked up) so I don't recommend anyone (especially women) come alone. I am most likely to return to this location if I need to or even refer someone here.
