| - My boyfriend and I went, and we both had a BLAST.
It was a little bit too windy, so I, being 5'0" and 100lbs, would probably have been blown away. Pete had a two-seater Blokart, and my boyfriend got to stear while I sat next to him. I'm not going to lie, I'm glad that I didn't have to do anything. ;) All I had to do was lounge around and catch some sun and we zoomed around Ivanpah Dry Lake.
Trust me when I say this: listen to Pete. He tells you to stay in a particular area, not just so he can make sure you're at a safe and reachable distance, but because he knows what he's doing, and he knows where the wind will be. And the fun will be where the wind is.
At first we got stuck in this little non-windy area, and it was a little difficult to navigate and get going. However, Pete brought us to where it was SUPER windy, and then is was a complete breeze. You don't even have to try to catch the wind, the wind will find your sail and you'll get whisked along the desert!
We were easily going 40-45 mph. The safe and reachable distance is actually a really large area--you have PLENTY of room to sail.
Pete is SUPER nice, he'll treat you like family.
We had so much fun, my boyfriend even made it a point to tell me, "We definitely have to do this again!"
I don't think I can even explain how much fun land sailing is, you'll just have to find out for yourself!
