In the spirit of full disclosure, hubby and I had our wedding reception here almost 10 years ago. But we also picked Chang's because we thought it was pretty tasty.
On our latest trip back to Vegas, hubby suggested hitting it up for old time's sake so I agreed. Good news is there was no wait at peak lunch hours. Bad news is there is no wait at peak lunch hours. I remember when it used to take an hour to get a table here. But I guess back then, there weren't as many Asian eating establishments to compete with.
We ate solely their dim sum dishes and quite honestly, they're pretty tasty. Hubby and I both love their version of "Phoenix claws" (a pretty euphemism for chicken feet). Unlike most other soggy, overcooked mushy versions, this one had bite as well as flavor.
It's also been a long time since I've paid any attention to the basics such as shau mai and har gow...but their har gow (shrimp dumplings) was a mini game-changer for me. The skin was chewy and the filling was very delicious. Did not fall apart when you picked it up.
Other faves: stewed tripe, comes on the same cart as the thousand year old egg porridge.
Sticky rice dumping (salty water dumpling if you're translating from Chinese)
Service was efficient and brisk, sometimes even friendly. We were in and out in less than an hour, eating at a leisurely pace.
The place is definitely showing its age but overall, still delicious.
