  • Very long review, so if you only read the first sentence, just order the Duo of Wild Boar; it is amazing. The first surprise we noticed about the restaurant is that they offer a free valet. In other cities, we've payed up to $25 for this convenience. They do a great job, so make sure to tip big. The restaurant itself is on the ground floor, so you'll mainly come here for the Jazz instead of the view. It is well decorated and inviting. However, If your a tall person, like myself (I'm 6'3"), you may find the tables and chairs slightly uncomfortable. For appetizers, we had the scallops and the calamari. The waiter claimed that the scallops made the restaurant famous. The scallops were more of an amuse-bouch, with only two served per order. They were fresh and well-cooked, however, there was nothing special to set them as outstanding; just salt for flavoring. We don't recall the fava bean puree or marmalade that was supposed to be apart of the dish. The calamari was very dry. Not a bad dish, just mediocre. Wine: Blue has a very extensive wine list, so it takes some time for a selection. The first bottle of wine was a little too sweet, but served professionally. The second bottle, one that the waiter recommended, ordered was sold-out. The third bottle was horribly corked, for which the waiter and manager both apologized profusely. However, by the time our "second" bottle of wine was served, desserts were being ordered. For Mid Courses, a few of us ordered the Butternut Squash and Jumbo Lump Crab Soup. It was watered down and very under-seasoned. All of us had to add salt and ask the server for crushed black pepper. Most of us felt that they had tried to stretch the dish out by adding water. Very underwhelming dish. For Entrees, most of the party ordered the Duo of Wild Boar. This dish was highly recommended by the waiter and one of the members of the party. Everyone loved the dish. It was complex, well-seasoned, and paired perfectly with the amazing chard and risotto. The party member that recommended the boar wanted to try a different dish and ordered the Beef Tenderloin. He enjoyed the cut of meat, but said he preferred the boar. Additional dishes that were ordered were the Braised Lamb Shank and the Grilled Bison. If you are not in the mood for the boar, I'd suggest the lamb solely on its appearance. We didn't get to try the dish, but it looked amazing and was enjoyed by the party member that ordered it. The Bison looked good, but it was on the al a carte menu. That menu doesn't have signature or paired sides. We typically don't order desserts, but we shared the Colombian Dark Chocolate Mousse. It was a decent mousse, but the appearance of the Sticky Toffee Pudding, which everyone else ordered, really out-shined our dish. We didn't get to try the pudding, but it looked and smelled amazing and we'd recommend it over the mousse. Overall, Blue has a great wait staff, upscale dining atmosphere, and live Jazz music (Unfortunately, we are not huge fans of jazz, so we didn't take the music into consideration for our review). Some of our dishes were very mediocre, but the Wild Boar is such a great dish that it pushed our rating up to a 3.5.
