First let me say I would not recommend this place.
There are a few good nurses (Mackenzie is excellent) and CNAs here, and the PT and OT department is very good. However, the place in general doesn't have a good vibe. Most of the time it felt like there was a shortage of help and the staff is overworked.
The first time my Dad was there a few years ago, he had a room to himself with a table and couple of chairs to use. Now those rooms are jammed with two beds and in most of them are people just laying in their beds most of the time. You definitely need an advocate if you are going here.
Nearing my Dad's release, I left phone messages with the social worker and the LPN who did the outtakes and never got return calls. I tried reaching them to talk ahead of time about what was going to happen, but didn't get results until I did it in person.
When my dad was released, I found out the LPN didn't follow the prescribed orders for the home healthcare. When I called her, she said no one told her. Isn't it her job to know?? Also she gave me a brochure for the home health company and when I called it, they didn't have him down as a patient. I called the nurse and she was a bit combative as was the manager of the facility when I spoke to him. He told me he would call me back but I had to call him as it was about 4:45 on a Friday. Why would they put people through this kind of stress?
What struck me was that no one ever apologized for the inconvenience.
One of the residents had told me not to bother with that LPN because she was "useless" but I felt I didn't have a choice.
My Dad is now at Freedom Plaza for a short stay and it is much more comfortable and so far the staff if more receptive.
