| - We booked a brunch reservation for 8 online, then followed up with a call to indicate it was a celebration of 2 family birthdays this week and we would have 2 small children in our group. The restaurant is beautiful, everyone was very nice, and the food wasn't too bad. Once we finally got it.
We were seated for a full 35 minutes before any wait staff person came over. He introduced himself along with his trainee who hung behind. He asked if we wanted water and some said yes while others tried to order different beverages as he just walked away. Water came 10 minutes later by the trainee who promptly disappeared without taking our order.
Eventually the trainee returned, alone, but did not know the menu so with each question he had to run and ask someone. No gluten-free anything. The French toast has bacon in it and no they don't make it without. We have no green tea. We're out of some salad ingredients but will bring you what we have. And on it went. Also note that at this point we had been there over an hour and there were only three other tables occupied in the restaurant.
Next the trainee returns to tell us there is a computer problem so our order hasn't gone to the kitchen yet. We had been there over an hour!!We commented that our experience was not going very well, had hungry children, and when did he think we might be served. "We will try to bring out the kids food as soon as we can. Do you need to be somewhere or are you going to a movie?" Seriously?
Our food finally was served 1 1/2 hours after we arrived, minus 2 orders that they forgot and brought ten minutes later.
I ate about two bites of my food because the cheese in my omelet tasted off and the hash browns were the consistency of a lump of mashed potatoes. I honestly expected someone to ask if there was a problem but that never happened. Others said their food was ok, and in fact the French toast was very good but definitely did not have bacon in it. So several of us wished we had ordered it had we not been misinformed.
Other than our trainee waiter, no one else ever came to our table, offered us coffee, acknowledged the birthdays even though there were cards and gifts in plain sight. We were given the check by our very pleasant but "definitely not ready for prime time" server who said he hoped to see us again soon. I don't think so. Sorry, Tanzy, but there are way too many good restaurants here for us not to get the food and service we deserve.
