| - So...our first visit here hit it out of the park. We loved the atmosphere walking in to the place. It felt like Dublin, sort of. On top of that, we had amazing service while sitting at the bar, the bartender was knowledgeable of the beer selections, the food was AWESOME. They had a fairly diverse selection of different beer styles, which was great. We had the meat sampler platter (not the right name, but you get the idea) and it was yummy, especially the black pudding and the wee tiny nibbles of lamb. I can practically live on brussel sprouts and these were some of the best. Cooked perfectly, a bit charred, and super flavorful. I completely believe all the reviews that say the staff is great must have had this bartender! She was fun, kept our glasses full, handled a busy bar. The real deal.
So, very excited to bring a couple out of town friends here, I had bragged about the great food and service. This second experience was nothing like the first. The bartender was too busy flirting with a chain-smoking dude at the end of the bar to pay any attention to the four of us, so we went to a table, to clear our eyes from the wafting smoke and the scene in general. The server brought us everything we asked for, but had no personality and was letting a bad day affect her job. Ugh... The beer selection tilted heavily toward IPAs and high IBU's and I was not thrilled like the first time, but still had a pint of something. The pub fries we ordered were completely inedible. Super limp and soggy and not the sauce we ordered. How do you make shoestring fries soggy?!? They sat for about 15 minutes before our server finally showed up. She just said "sorry" and took the full plate away. Did not offer to order something else or anything. In the meantime, a couple of us had ordered burgers, and they were just OK. The flatbread was overcooked and somewhat tasteless. We were charged for the disgusting fries. I was a little embarrassed, frankly, for bragging this place up. We definitely did not find Irish charm in this visit. No manager was visible anywhere, or I would have spoken with them.
Because I am not a Seahawks fan, and because the "Irish feel" was not there for me, I didn't want to give it another chance. But, because I LOVE Ireland, and it's charms, I knew I had to give it one more shot. I just went again last week. It definitely seemed like they had almost all IPAs and super hoppy beers again, which made NO SENSE for an Irish Pub!! That was the beginning of the end. The same rotten bartender from the time before was there. I mentioned the lack of diversity in the beer selection and she said, "So, get something in a bottle." No more to say about that. I was NOT ready to give up! I wanted to love this bar. So, I ordered the brussel sprouts to try and make up for the underzealous burgers from the last trip and the disappointing beer selection. Guess what...new cook or something. These brussel sprouts were soggy. I think they may have been leftovers from the local elementary school lunch cafeteria! YUCK.
So, probably won't go back. I just can't recommend going here for any authentic Irish pub feel, except the decor, and I've spent a lot of time in Ireland and Northern Ireland. I'm definitely skeptical...
