| - Car would not start, so after jump starting I immediately brought it to Findlay Kia without an appointment. Dreading at least an hour wait, I prepared for the worst.
Boy was I wrong.
Upon arrival, i pulled up to the Service line, where James, a Kia Service Advisor immediately came to my vehicle to greet me. I explained my situation, even showed a video of what my dashboard was doing to help solidify my issue, and he had a preliminary idea. After opening my hood, he looked at my battery and immediately noticed it was the stock battery that came with the car when I bought it in 2015. He then suspected it needed to be replaced but said he would have the technicians run a diagnostic.
About 10 minutes later, he came back to me and said the battery was completely depleted and needed to be replaced. He gave me the estimate and while it was a lot pricier than I had hoped for, it was still in the realm of doable and comes with Kia's stellar warranty. I mentioned that I needed to get the battery replaced so I could get a smog check and then register it at DMV, and this is where my experience only got better (literally, it did).
James caught on to what my situation was, and told me that if the battery is replaced, the system's computers reset themselves to where a smog check would not be able to be completed and my vehicle would not pass until the computers start collecting data again a few days later. Due to my urgency of getting the vehicle registered, he said he would have the car smog checked prior to getting the battery replaced right there. I asked how long it would take...
45 minutes.
At first I thought it was a joke but nope, truly a smog check, battery replacement, and complimentary wash took only 45 minutes! Add the 15 minutes it took to drive up and the initial diagnostics, I was in and out in 60 minutes. Without an appointment.
I have heard of great service and I've even had great service at other Kia service locations, but this experience was by far the best. James was thorough with his communication, incredibly helpful with his warning, and made sure that for me as a customer, my mind was put to ease.
The location itself is easy to navigate, although I do warn that it is probably best to approach going EAST on Sahara. If you are traveling west, you have to turn left into the lot which means going through cross traffic on a usually very busy road. Once in the lot, large signage makes it very easy to see where to go, as you pull into the service area directly in the front, and not from the sides or the back. The waiting area has a handful of comfortable leather seats (3 by the cashier, and about 5 more on the front side). There is also a large table with outlets to charge devices (including 2 USB charging ports per outlet). Vending machines contain a variety of snacks and drinks. They do offer complimentary coffee, tea, water, and depending on the time of day, donuts from Dunkin Donuts or fresh popcorn in a 10oz industrial popper. Very comfortable atmosphere!
Property is very clean. No trash around, no problems in the waiting/showcase floor.
The complimentary car wash I received was surprisingly thorough! They even went as far as really washing my license plate frame and making sure it shined again (I honestly thought the license plate frame was permanently black). But this may also be because I have the Findlay Kia frame on there so they want the brand to be nice and presentable? Just a thought but still the service on it was impressive.
Overall I am highly impressed by this location, and while the Henderson Kia is closer to me, I choose to keep my business at Findlay Kia because of the outstanding service I receive and the extreme helpfulness of the advisors such as what I received from James.
