On Oct 24, 2014 Yorkdale VW replaced a faulty intake manifold on my 2010 VW Tiguan, but neglected to install a couple of expensive, but required internal parts when they did so. Another VW dealership (Victoria VW) confirmed this on May 4, 2018, just 28,600 kilometers later, when the intake manifold failed well before it's time as a result. Victoria VW confirmed the details of the original work done by Yorkdale on their shared database and called Yorkdale to explain the situation to the Yorkdale Service Manager (noting that it would not be difficult to miss the parts on installation, and that its entirely possible for the car to run acceptably for a good deal of time without the parts) and asked if Yorkdale would pay for the parts ($204.20). Yorkdale Service Manager's response? "That was a long time ago; we don't know where the car has been since." The cost of the intake manifold replacement is covered by warranty, there would be no reason to have the intake manifold altered or removed by anyone but a VW dealership and all VW dealership work is recorded in their shared database. The parts clearly didn't just disappear. They seem to be hiding their negligent workmanship behind their 1-year warranty. I have complained to VW Canada but their response was to record my complaint and put a note on Yorkdale's file. I have recently lodged a complaint with the Better Business Bureau. Hopefully Yorkdale VW will do the right thing this time.
