  • Hope this TMI post helps someone else. Had a walk-in appointment for an employment drug test. Unfortunately, I thought it would be a hair sample, so wasn't "ready" to produce a urine sample. For those of you who haven't had to drug test in years, they do not do hair tests anymore. The ladies were very sweet. But what a nightmare. What no one told me going in, including my future employer is that: a.) its a urine test b.) be ready to produce A LOT of urine, like 1/2 a small cottage cheese container c.) if you go and you cant create the amount necessary, they make you throw it away and start again, they don't tell you this in advance... d.) there is no "adding" to the original batch e.) you will only be allowed to drink 32 oz of water total, and this counts the water you had prior to coming in f.) there are larger catch pans available, for people like me who have a hard time catching every drop in the container...but they don't offer them up, you have to think smart and ask for them g.) it takes 30 minutes for the water you drink to turn into urine. You may go about 1/4 the amount you drink. h.) You have exactly 3 hours, without leaving Labcorp to produce the amount of urine necessary or you will FAIL the test. I) yes fail, not because you do drugs, but because you have a shy bladder. I googled, people have lost their jobs over this. So I sat there traumatized I was going to lose my new job because of my inability to pee massive amounts into a cup! THANK GOODNESS it all came out in the end! A BIG, thank you to the kind ladies working who treated me wonderfully throughout the experience. I would give the staff 5 stars, the 4 stars is because the communication all around could have been better. TIP: If you think you may have this issue go earlier in the day so you have the full 3 hours to complete. WHEW!
