Buying a car is stressful as *expletive*. I do not have the haggle gene and have limited patience for BS, which is why I have bought my last 3 cars at Carmax. Which still sucked. Alas... I wanted to downsize from my 4runner and had been looking at Equinox's and thought I would go check them out.
My salesperson was Marcus and he was fantastic. Friendly. Knowledgeable about the variety of cars on the lot. Once we test drove an Equinox (and the test drive takes you on a variety of roads/traffic so you get a real feel for the car), I had pretty much decided what I wanted. Being a girl, I pick my cars based on color, and I wanted the Carolina blue (Silver Topaz Metallic). I didn't care what interior color was, and I wanted a 2014. Marcus found a brand new 2015 with all of the bells and whistles on it for just $2k more than the 2014. Limited haggling, limited hand-wringing. He said it would be transferred to the dealership the next morning, but I was actually able to pick her up about 3 hours after I left.
I wasn't thrilled with what I got for my trade-in for my 4runner, but thanks to super thoughtful Charlotte parkers, the sides were banged all to shit from having doors opened on it and other various aesthetic problems that would need to be repaired. Meh - it is what it is. Do we ever really get what we think we deserve?
The financing/paperwork part took an eternity. I signed my name/initialed no less than 30 times, was handed a packet of paperwork for my records. From arrival for a test drive to out the door took about 3 1/2 hours. (is that normal?!)
I would recommend going to Steve Moore Chevy and visiting Marcus if you are looking for a new car.
