  • So my boyfriend and I stayed at the California Hotel recently and everyone we talked to recommended this place. They said we should try the Oxtail Soup ($9.99) and the Prime Rib Special ($9.99). We came here twice and our first time coming here was absolutely horrible. When we first sit down, our server doesn't even come to our table for 15 mins. Then he finally comes to us and asks what we would like. I was really drunk so I wanted Chicken Fingers which comes with either soup or the salad bar and french fries. I requested soup and then that was the last time we saw our server. He never brought out the soup, never checked on us, and didn't even bring us drinks. Another server ended up taking over for him because she felt bad for us. However, the soup and the chicken fingers were got good at all. Soggy tenders and soup that tasted like it had been sitting out for quite some time. Gross! (1 star experience) Then our friends came with us a couple days later to get the Prime Rib Special and this experience was COMPLETELY different. Our servers (ya we had multiple servers) taking care of us. It was great! They continuously refilled our water, was very attentive, and brought our food out super quick. The Prime Rib Special comes with your choice of potatoes (mashed, baked, fries), soup/salad, and a dessert of Cherry Jubilee. The Prime Rib was actually pretty good, especially for 9.99. Also the salad bar wasn't bad either, pretty basic, but nothing awful about it. Don't go too wild on the salad bar though because this special comes with a lot of food. Lastly, I don't actually like the taste of cherries, but when they gave us the Cherries Jubilee dessert, it was really tasty and I really liked it. (5 star experience) I wish I could give this a better review, but that first experience was truly horrible. Overall, I will definitely be back and I will try and get the Oxtail Soup that is only between 11 pm - 9 am.
