This is a hipster's emporium. Or should I say, an emporium for hipsters that have the budget for a 2011 dining room table, but want a table with that 1970's brown color and worn-feel.
Like everyone else has said "I wanted to like it." When you walk in, you notice that things are set up nicely and everything is clean. The staff are friendly. There are Tom Jones records for $2. But... when I saw a painting I liked that was priced for $600 or a 1970's dining room table for $1,000 I realized that I wasn't going to be buying too many hipster goodies from here.
All the furniture is overpriced for being in a thrift store and there isn't a large selection of things like dishes and random crap to hang on your walls. I quickly glanced at the women's clothing section and noticed *nothing* of interest. It seems like the men and children's sections have a better selection. And in general, it seems like you come here for hipster home decorations and karaoke machines...not clothes.
Upstairs, there were A LOT of artists' studios. It was fun to wander around, but we weren't quite sure what to make of it.
I will definitely be back, and hopefully I can find something fun to buy next time. As much as I wanted to get the VHS of Groundhog Day or the CD/tape/record/stereo-beastly-machine-combo, I just couldn't bring myself to do it. Maybe Tom Jones will still be there and I can hang his record up on the wall?
