  • My husband has been at this facility for four days so far. I didn't want to write a review after the first day b/c there were many negative reviews and I wanted to "wait and see". Fortunately, my husband has had a very good experience. My husband was in the North Vista Hospital ICU and he needed to be moved to a rehab facility until he was stronger. A very nice coordinator came to his room and talked to him about the facility. My husband really liked this woman. My husband is a smoker so being able to smoke is important to him. The coordinate explained to him that it's a non-smoking facility but some people walk to the edge of the complex to smoke. My husband was thrilled. I visited the facility while my husband was still in North Vista. I was impressed with the building and grounds. The place was modern and nicely decorated. The outside was modestly but attractively landscaped. I was given a tour of the hospital. There were a couple of wings. Everything was clean and appealing. When my husband first arrived to Complex Care Hospital (Tenaya) he really liked it. He had a private room that was light, bright and clean. He was lucky to have a room over-looking the serene courtyard. The doctors, nurses, and CNAs are pleasant and knowledgeable. They might be spread a little thin because they had to be reminded sometimes of things that they said they would do. In spite of this, we have found that when the staff is in the room, they are focused on quality health care for my husband. Additionally, this hospital has a cafe that serves lunch for a very affordable $4.00 a meal plus a by-the-pound salad bar. I haven't tried the cafe yet b/c I've been lucky enough to enjoy a "guest meal" during my visits. If my husband knows I'll be visiting during a meal time the following day then on his menu he'll write "guest meal" and I receive a complimentary meal. I believe that this meal is free for guests when they can help the patient during the meal. My husband is fairly independent so he doesn't need a lot of help but I really enjoy the meal and I try to help him as much as possible to justify the freebie. :) The meals are really good. I'm impressed. The patient selects his choices from a menu provided the day before. The meals arrive on time, hot and fresh. One thing that I have found annoying is the doctor's inability to clearly communicate with my husband what his goals that need to be met in order to be released. My husband is required to be on a constant IV medicine. Once when he asked why he hadn't been released yet he was told that they needed to figure out the correct amount of medicine he needs each day. My husband explained that his cardiologist had already prescribed the amount he should receive daily. My husband even had his own cardiologist's written order for it but the Complex Care doctor wasn't interested in seeing it. My husband gave the order to the nurse who photocopied it and placed it in his file. (caveat: this information in this single paragraph was relayed to me by my husband so it may not be 100% accurate. Sometimes there's miscommunication between him and myself). On day 4, the Complex Care cardiologist came and said that my husband could be released as soon as the assigned Complex Care doctor approved it. It was Sunday (and Mother's Day) so the assigned doctor and the case worker weren't available. Hopefully, the following day (Monday), everyone can get their ducks in a row so my husband can be released. I would strongly recommend this facility. I promise to do an update if anything turns sour.
