  • My kids have wanted to go to Jolly Rolls for at least 6 months now. We started by making the trip to the Indian Land location a few months ago. That location is closed. It's a shame it wasn't indicated when I looked up the address. So we went home and waited for another day to try the one in Matthews. We got to the Matthews location one night at around 8:30pm and they greeted us by asking if we had already ordered. Really? Since we had not ordered already, and they close at 9pm, they refused to serve us because it was 8:30pm and they had a 45 min backlog. Wow... okay... so we went to Bruesters down the road. Fast forward about 6 more weeks (today)... my son insisted on it tonight and we indulged him. We arrived at around 8pm on a Saturday night and it was quite crowded. We were told it would be a 45 minute wait when we placed our order. My family got ice cream and I got a Cuban coffee. Their estimate was right on... 45 minutes later we got the ice cream. But no coffee. After some confusion behind the counter the manager brought me a refund for the coffee and apologized that they were out of coffee. As far as the ice cream... I didn't have any but sounds like it tastes good. However they are very thin slivers rolled up. If you weigh the ice cream here or anywhere else, there is a big difference. If you have a big appetite, keep in mind that you don't get much ice cream for your buck here. My family commented that the rolls melt right away anyway so there's nothing that special. But I do have to say that their people work really hard at making that ice cream into rolls. We won't be back unless it's a mud-day craving in January. We really didn't enjoy waiting that long for ice cream. There isn't anything to do or a nice waiting area or anything. I can't imagine how hard it is to get people to want to work there. Unless you're a bodybuilder with super strong arms, that is one physically demanding job!
