The modern day updated version of the Polo Grounds maybe? That's what came to mind during my first visit to Chase Field Tuesday for a game against the Reds.
I was impressed with the layout of the stadium and that having watched games on TV in my opinion don't do this ballpark justice. I'm a fan of quirky and there is a little of that in this park being that it's not the traditional baseball architecture from the outside. Literally it's baseball in a box. I like the location of Friday's Front Row Sports Grill out in left field.
Unfortunately the roof wasn't opened this night, so I do look forward to coming back for a game with the roof opened. Very friendly and helpful staff here at Chase Field, from concessions to ushers and those in the team store. It's too bad the team will be leaving this park after the 2022 season, leaving a huge void in the downtown scene for sports and entertainment.
