  • I stopped going to this practice years ago because of a bad experience I had. I workout often and went in because during cardio I was feeling short of breath. When I felt short of breath, my heart monitor showed my heart rate going down to 30 bpm. First thing the nurse practitioner said when she walked in is, "You're 145 pounds, you could stand to loose 10 pounds". Exact words!!! I was caught off guard, esp because my body fat was about 15/16 percent at the time, which is very low. I had a lot of muscle also which does make the scale go up. I chose to just ignore the comment. I had asthma symptoms as a kid and I needed an inhaler but I've grown out of it and was never diagnosed, so I suggested to the nurse practitioner that it might be asthma that was causing my problem. She launched into a very arrogant lecture about how her daughter had asthma and told me all her daughters symptoms and that somehow proved I didn't have asthma. Internally I was feeling sorry for this lady and deciding to seek another opinion and never come back. I listened patiently and left with a prescription for an inhaler. No test were run, she never further discussed my symptoms. In retrospect, I keep thinking she should've sent me to a cardiologist because I told her my heart rate was dropping or at least ran some tests or explored other options. I'm writing this now because my husband and I recently applied for life insurance. They said, you've been diagnosed with asthma, that will add an extra $500 a year. I said, no, I've never been diagnosed. They said yes, a couple years ago my Mesa Family Physicians. I was shocked because she very clearly told me there was no way I could have asthma because my symptoms didn't match up to her daughters (eye roll). I called them several times to try to rectify this especially because another doctor properly diagnosed and fixed my problem and it wasn't asthma. Further, no test were run to prove I had asthma. I have never received a call back. Never gotten farther than the receptionist to this day. They basically do not care. Still can't believe the lack of patient care I received. We didn't want our medical tests for our life insurance to lapse so we ended up just paying the extra $500 a year. These people do not care about patients, find another doctor.
