BE WARNED IF YOU ARE THINKING OF USING ORANGUTAN! THEY TRY AND SELL YOU ON PRODUCTS/SERVICES YOU DON'T NEED AND TRY TO CHARGE YOU FOR SERVICES NOT PERFORMED. They come off very professional and you feel like you can trust them but don't. We had our units replaced 4 years ago through Home Depot and Orangutan was the company to do it. Up until earlier this month I had trusted this company but a few weeks ago we had them out to service our AC units and they said there was a leak but that I'd need my units tested to find out where the leak was. I was told I needed to pay $600 per test per unit. I gave them my credit card and they scheduled a technician to come the next day. They charged my card $1200 before the technician showed up. Well the technician walked in and saw that the area around an upstairs vent was very dirty and told me there was no need to do the leak checks but that my ducts were bad and that it would be like 20k to replace but that they could go in and seal them for $4700 and apply the $1200 towards that. We called another company to get a second opinion, was told over the phone that to replace duct work would be 4k-5k. I called Orangutan back and asked about getting a refund since it would be cheaper to replace the ducts than put a band-aid on them. They said no problem. 2nd company came out and inspected the ducts and said they were fine but that we should replace the reusable filters with the cheaper ones and just change them out every month. Then he scheduled a tech to come check the ac units. He came 2 days later, found the leak in both units and repaired them all for under $400!!!! I talked to Josh about getting a refund. He said no problem but to give it 7 days. After 10 days I called about the refund and was told that it would never take 7 days that it should have been done in 24-48hrs. Josh had already gone home so I called him at 8am the next morning and left a message. At 1:30pm I called again and was told he was at lunch but I left a message and the gal who answered said she would personally talk to him. I called back at 3:30pm and the lady was surprised because Josh told her he'd call me but he didn't. She put me on hold and talked to Josh and told me that they wouldn't refund it since the tech did the work. I was fired up! I have my invoice that says..DID NOT DO LEAK CHECK ON BOTH UNITS! I was told that Josh would call me in the morning. I called my credit card company and filed a dispute. Next day (today) Josh doesn't call so I call at 11:30am and left a message that he better not hold up the dispute because I have paperwork proving they didn't do the work they charged me for and that Josh better return my call today. Do you think he called? NOPE! My credit card company has issued a temporary credit so we'll see if I'll need to press charges or file a police report. I'm not sure the route you take when a company steals money from you!
