I recently (as in 7/26) had a cake delivered to my house for my boyfriend's birthday. A simple cake that was suppose to be a chocolate on chocolate cake. Lola, I thought I was speaking with when I ordered it but another woman delivered it that claimed to be her on the phone said something about "well Lola would be glad to hear that..." But said i had her contact info. I looked after she left & i saved it as Lola. Her voicemail also says Lola's phone. Anyways, the woman taking my order asked if I wanted a filling, naming off options I chose carmel. I'm thinking this cake would be like a doughnut filled pastry. Yay! Not so much. The service of delivery was great and on time. However, we cut the cake, it was 3 layers of chocolate cake with 3 layers of white icing and the decoration on top was another taste of icing. Not at all what was discussed. Giving it the benefit of the doubt. The bottom layer of the cake was burnt and hard as a rock. The white layers of icing had no taste of sugar at all, like straight shortening or butter along with the decoration icing was straight butter with food dye. It was horrible. My boyfriend's first birthday cake EVER and he didn't even eat it. He loves sweets and candy and took two bites and never picked it back up or went for seconds. I threw the cake out. I felt like I could've used the icing to cook with. My sister (which lives on the east coast) makes cakes for friends & family as a side job because she enjoys it and she's good at it. Everything she makes from scratch. I know what REAL icing & cake taste like, this definitely wasn't it. We were very disappointed. I see why now they don't have a shop. I'm all about helping local businesses, but I will find another vendor for the future.
