During my stay at the Mayo Clinic there was a lot of down time and a lot of waiting...being that I was held up in a hotel for 2 weeks with nothing to do other than doctors visits and labs we decided to explore our options around the Phoenix area and stumbled upon the Japanese Friendship Gardens
I absolutely love anything Japanese and I love Japanese Gardens so this was a win-win for me. Extremely peaceful and tranquil.
It is an absolute must that you stop at the front entrance and buy koi food to feed the ducks and koi at the pond. My husband and I spent quiet time just feeding the fish and the sense of calm that it awarded me was something I will remember. There are trees and quiet places to sit and even nap if you just need a moment to regroup.
If I lived in Phoenix this would be a place that I would visit frequently just for a place to be one with nature and restore.
