I have driven by this restaurant for years and always wanted to go for a special romantic event... so my husband made a reservation on Open Table and indicated on the reservation it was our 35th Wedding Anniversary. We arrived at 6:30 p.m. for our 7 p.m. reservation. Standing in the door way... waiting for several minutes for someone to acknowledge us... Then a man who was frantically pacing in an near empty restaurant-- lackadaisical offered an extremely small booth for us- my husband is 6'1 and the petite booth wasn't going to work for us so we asked for another table.. he sat us at a table under a beautiful painting of lady in a stripped dress.... my husband asked if we could get a more intimate table by the window... this man said, " Oh no I can't the brother of the owner wants hold that table." Mind you he never introduced himself until I informed him I have always wanted to come to Pamplemousse since I was a kid and I was hoping to have a good experience asked for some food suggestions. I asked his name... Keifer he was not as friendly as other people have said on Yelp... Now they did have a HUGE Party that came right after us and that may be the reason Keifer's attention was focused on this large group not myself or husband. The restaurant was LOUD and it must have been a work group because they introduced Keifer and he spoke of the Pamplemousse Experience the Old Vegas- Debbie Reynolds, Casino Executives of my youth patronizing this restaurant. Sadly we had to over hear Keifer talking to the large group....We did not get his story Old Vegas and how the Pamplemousse shaped our wonderful city- My hometown.
Thank Goodness for Paula she was attentive and fabulous and the food was outstanding. When I went to the restroom my husband reminded Paula it was our 35th Wedding Anniversary. Possibly Open Table didn't let them know (I hope because if not HOW SAD FOR THEM..). But feeling ignored by the head waiter Keifer and the noise level is why I am rating so low.
Keifer did try when he threw some confetti and a lemon sorbet with a candle in it at the end of our meal but it really was too little too late for me and my hope for a Romantic Intimate Old Vegas Anniversary Dinner.
Would I come again... maybe but not for a special occasion.
