  • I want to like Golden Gate. I really do. Heck, it's within walking distance from my house, and I frequently crave Chinese food. But I have not had great luck there. The sweet and sour chicken is spongy. The Lo mein is swimming in oil - I've never had anything like it (and that's not a compliment). The egg rolls are soaked in grease. The only things keeping me from rating it lower: 1) the wonton soup is pretty comforting and 2) people who grew up around here love this place, so I'm willing to give it the benefit of the doubt - maybe I'm missing something. I'm not terribly hopeful though.
