| - My family and I stayed here as part of a timeshare exchange through Diamond Resorts. My dad, my brothers and I were going to a shooting range nearby to train during the day for two days while my mom and my sister stayed at the hotel and/or wandered around Vegas because they don't like guns enough to do a full two-day training course.
We have stayed in many, many timeshare properties as we have timeshare exchange capabilities with two large companies. We are not owners of a specific timeshare at this resort so we can't say anything for the salespeople here or the presentation as a whole.
Since we have stayed in many timeshares, we know the drill. We know what to expect and what not to. For those of you who are expecting a typical hotel/resort type experience, you will likely be disappointed. These types of resorts are meant to be enjoyed for longer periods of time and aren't meant to be the main source of entertainment. They are a nice apartment-style place to sleep, relax, cook your own meals and clean up after yourself... unless you want to live in squalor. It is literally a temporary home away from home. You are meant to venture out and explore the area/city on your own. Go to off-site restaurants, shows, casinos, shops, historical sites, touristy spots, hikes, etc. That's the point! That's the beauty of timeshare exchanges!
Even though timeshare resorts aren't meant to be an all encompassing experience, Tahiti Village exceeded our normal "timeshare property expectations". When we were all done with our day's adventures (including a wonderful day trip to Zion National Park with all 6 of us), it was great to come back to a very spacious, clean and comfortable 2-bedroom apartment and also to have the option of a late night dip in the hot tub, some poorly played pool volleyball or a float around the lazy river.
We spent two days doing our separate activities (shooting or sightseeing) and then a day in Zion. Then we spent a day at the resort enjoying the pool, hot tubs, lazy river and just playing board/card games in our living room. On the fifth day, we ventured to the best cheap casino (Casino Royale) to get a little family gambling in (I taught my family how to play craps when we were on a cruise once so now we all like to play) before my family hit the road to make their week long sightseeing drive back to Ohio.
I stayed an additional two days just relaxing, getting my oil changed nearby (yep, I get my oil changed while on trips... yay adulting), sunning at the pool area and driving over to a few strip hotels (before they started charging for self-parking) to gamble a little more seriously than my family would want to. Once back at the resort both nights I took long soaks in the deep tub and used the steam shower/room a few too many times.
Our room was very quiet and even though it faced northeast, the rising sun was pretty behind the palm trees outside our window instead of annoying and blinding. It was a great experience overall and I told my friends we have to go back and do an "Old People Vegas" (aka we wear sweatpants 90% of the trip and don't even attempt to stay up late and definitely no clubbing). We are planning our OPV trip this September and will be staying at Tahiti Village as part of another exchange. Bonus: It is right next to the private terminal at McCarran so getting from the airport to the hotel is going to be a breeze! We can't wait.
