Papavero is a fantastic, cozy spot for a nice romantic dinner. There are two A++ elements to a Papavero dinner that keep me coming back: the SERVICE (probably the most attentive, efficient, pleasant in town...only competition in that realm miiiiight be Forequarter) and the BUTTERSCOTCH BUDINO which is my favorite dessert in this entire city. I don't eat pasta (though the boyfriend loves it) so minus one star since the only non-pasta entree on the regular menu continues to be the Grigliata- a mixed grill- that seems to have been around for at least a year. I've had it 3 times and have yet to be impressed. The meat has always tasted too heavily of char to be delicious, and often gets tough. Also, the grigliata comes over potatoes- another thing I don't eat- though they are quite gracious about subbing in. I implore you, Osteria Papavero- bring back the delicious steak you used to have on the menu? Otherwise, I'll stick to my new go-to, a salad and a cheese plate, which is reliably delicious. Other times I have been really pleased with their special entrees (usually a fish and/or a red meat over polenta....) and all in all, since it's my own dietary concern I can't be too picky. Great date night staple!
