| - I felt excruciating pain related to Sciatic nerve inflation. I had experienced similar symptoms in the past and the Cortisone shot was able to alleviate the inflammation right away. Since the pain occurred later in the afternoon, my orthopedist was not available to see me. After several calls to different clinics in my area, which all told me they do not administer Cortisone shot, I was able to get a positive response from the Thunder Banner Health Emergency Room at 602-588-5555. While speaking to Emergency Room representative, I was told that the Thunder Banner Health Emergency Room does administer both Cortisone and other steroid shots at their location. Receiving a steroid shot was the only way I was going to let myself be admitted to ER, so to be certain I heard the information correctly, I asked the representative confirm, to which they did.
Upon my arrival to Thunder Banner Health Emergency Room I was seen by the medical practitioner. I explained my situation and I asked if I can receive the Cortisone shot. The medical practitioner agreed that the Cortisone shot would be appropriate, however in the same breath she apologized saying I was misinformed - the person who I spoke to over the phone gave me the wrong information. Thunder Banner Health Emergency Room does not provide Cortisone or any other Steroid shots for that matter. If I knew this information from the very start, I would have never admitted myself to ER.
I refused any treatment or prescription and I left the facility on my own accord. Less than a week later I received two medical bills - one for $605.20 from the Banner Health Hospital, and $320 from the doctor who saw me for the full 5 minutes. I tried disputing the charges, but to no avail. In their response to me they apologized for giving me the wrong information over the phone, but the bill stands - pay up or we send you to collections. This hospital is a scam! Stay away.
EDIT: In response to the Banner Health PR person: I wrote a letter to Banner Health Patient Relations department back in October and few days before Christmas I received a response from your CEO Deb Krmpotic, in which she "acknowledges my concerns," but then without further explanation continues: "Your bill accurately reflects the medical services received while under our care." Of course, the 30 minutes I set in your waiting room and the 5 minutes of conversation with the doctor (who sent me a separate $320 bill) completely justifies the $602 charge. If your operator didn't LIE about the service you don't provide, I would have never arrived at Banner Health Thunderbird ER in the first place. This is a classic case of bait and switch and if I didn't have more important things in life than litigating with a corporate greed, I'd hire a lawyer and pursue justice in court. Instead, I'll invest couple of hours to post this review on every site I find that talks about your hospital.
