  • Update 5/25/2016: Although I haven't been back to the brewery itself in awhile, I have to knock a star because I simply do not love their beer! I feel that it is OK at best and suffers from inconsistency. Original review: This place was hoppin' (sorry, couldn't help myself) when I stopped in for the first time on a Thursday evening. And for good reason! Upper Lawrenceville is now lucky enough to have TWO great microbreweries, just blocks from each other. Hop Farm's space has a clean, modern, but earthy feel (with a beautiful handmade wood bar, wood floors, and olive green walls). The atmosphere matches the brewery's ethos -- natural, farm-fresh, environmentally conscious. By the way, the brewery's name is not a lie! The organic hops used to brew Hop Farm's beers are actually grown by the owner on a local Pennsylvania farm. As you might expect, their IPA is very hop-forward. It's my favorite of the current beers on tap, and you can actually taste and get growlers of a version of it that's run through the "hop rocket" (fresh hops). I was also impressed with the Nut Brown beer. I think it is probably the best brown ale I've tried from any local brewery! Tasting is free, pours are generous, and growlers are super reasonably priced at $10-11, excluding the growler itself. Most importantly, Hop Farm is just a fun place to hang out. The owner, Matt, is really sweet and laid back and loves to talk to everyone about his passion for growing and brewing. You will not feel rushed on your visit here, and you may even get to chat up some other friendly beer enthusiasts.
