I bought a 2012 Tucson on 10/08/16 and was told I had 30 days to go register it, etc. I planned the DMV song and dance for 11/05/16, the next free Saturday I had. I discovered in the process of trying to register it that the smog certificate which came with my car expired on 11/01/16. I called the dealership to find out whether I can get a new smog certificate with a current date without having to drive all the way down there. I spent nearly half an hour holding for someone (admittedly at my choice, waiting for a technician to become available), and then was dumped into an anonymous voice mail box with no name or introduction as to whose box it is. I called back and this time was promised a call back from someone who could answer my question before the end of the day. I waited and waited until just before 5pm, no phone call. So I called again and was advised the service department closed at 4pm. I asked to speak to someone about lodging a complaint and was transferred to a salesman who, after I explained everything again because the receptionist did not brief him, advised he could not help me and I had to speak to Lou. He transferred me to Lou, but it went to an anonymous voicemail box again. I called back again and finally got a manager on the phone who advised there was no way to issue an updated certificate without rechecking the car. So now I have to either pay for a new smog myself, or go before work on Monday to get the smog test redone at the dealership and hope it updates on time for me to do my registration online in Monday. The only reason I don't give them 1 star is I got a pretty good deal on the car itself. None of the staff I spoke to today seemed to care whether I received help or not nor apologized for the inconvenience, with the exception of the very last manager I spoke to. No compensation for my time driving all the way over there at the crack of dawn was offered. Leaves a really sour taste in my mouth. My next car will come from someone else.
