I had booked a reservation with the Sheraton back in late December. My boyfriend and I had planned on visiting the Stadiums in Arizona for spring training. The trip was actually one of my Christmas presents to him. I booked the reservation through a third party, living social. When I had first made the reservation I made the unfortunate mistake of selecting the wrong weekend. I ended up calling living social, and calling the Sheraton Hotel to switch the dates and it was no problem. I then received and confirmation email and receipt. The old reservation was cancelled and a new one was made.
When the day finally came for our trip my boyfriend and I drove almost 6 hours to get there. Exhausted from the drive we wanted nothing more but to check into our room and relax. I walked up to the front desk and spoke to Cynthia, I told her my first and last name and proceeded to check in. She then informed me my reservations were cancelled. I had told her to check again and explained the situation. I told her only one reservation was cancelled, and a new one was made with the correct dates. I even had the confirmation email on hand stating so. She continued to tell me there was no reservation, that both reservations had been cancelled and no room was ready for me. She suggested calling living social and speaking to them but it was after hours and they were closed. She told me there was nothing she could do, even though I had already paid for my stay.
With no room and nowhere to go I was forced to book yet another room! The rate she gave me was $309 for one night. I told her there was no way I could afford that considering I paid for a stay for two nights already. I asked her if I could have the rate at which I paid for months ago which was $198 a night but she told me no, and that it wasn't in her hands to do so. She eventually found a cheaper rate for $219 that ended up being $235 after taxes.
I wasn't planning on this unexpected expense and it really put a dent into our stay. After paying double we then carried all our luggage ourselves on the bell cart and to our room. The room was dirty, and in much need of some tlc. Our "balcony" was nothing more of an inch and handrail to look out of. The view was a parking lot and Denny's in the distance. After the horrible costumer service and room not living up to what was promised. I couldn't stay for the remainder of my trip. My boyfriend and I checked out the next day and stayed at another hotel for the remaining two days of our trip.
When I did follow up with living social they had told me the reservation was still standing and there was no reason it was allegedly "cancelled". I was able to get a full refund from living social for the two nights I had paid for. I will never stay at a Sheraton hotel again. I understand mistakes happen but in no way was the front desk managers accommodating, or helpful. The worst customer service I have ever received.
