After two years, I summoned my courage and came back to this spot for a second meal. Half the restaurant was reserved for a CES crowd so we were informed there is a 45-min wait. No problem, let us grab a drink first... but wait, why are there empty tables in the unreserved section?! No idea. Those tables were still empty when we left the restaurant after our meal an hour later, so maybe they're reserving them for the POTUS. Yeah right.
Let's get down to the real stuff:
- Milkshakes are gooood. The oreo one especially hit the spot as a nice malt/bailey's shake. Noted that it wasn't as alcoholic as Black Cow or Brown Cow.
- Burgers... oh burgers - where do I even begin? Should I start with the fact that I had to send the burger back because it was well done, dry and gritty instead of medium-rare and juicy? The replacement was barely better (came medium-well) but at that point I was so disappointed that a burger place can't get the temperature right that I ate it as sustenance rather than something to be enjoyed and savored. Bun is also hard so watch out for that too. The only burger that was moderately impressive is the Rising Sun which has a nicer patty and a lovely blend of flavors. If you're thinking about the Gold Standard, SKIP IT.
I'm going to wait another two years before contemplating another visit. Maybe.
