| - If you're in the mood for chicken of the fried variety and you want it in the form of wings or fingers, The Chicken Shack might be what you're looking for. This location is the most convenient for us and we always receive friendly, helpful service, but I wouldn't put the chicken on the top of my list.
You can either get fingers, wings, or both via combo. Unlike other proteins, chicken always needs a little help to boost the flavor and with over 20+ choices for sauces, the spectrum is broad enough to meet anyone's palate. Their hottest, damn hot and what I usually order, is tolerable and allows you to still function after consumed. Cajun is probably my favorite of the rest. I have yet to try the burgers, salads, and chicken sandwich also offered on the menu. My daughter especially prefers the shoestring fries and sometimes bypasses the chicken just to get the fries.
I've given the tenders a couple of tries and both times they've been overcooked leaving the meat dry with inedible, tough edges. To me, the wings, although they are plump and above average in size, are their biggest downfall because they commit the mortal sin of coating each wing with breading. A crispy chicken skin is a delicacy providing that unique crunch and holding the salty, fatty chicken flavor. I'm disappointed when I see a wing that conceals that flavorful skin with breading.
The fries and service are strong points. The fingers and wings aren't my top choice, but I wouldn't tell anyone not to give them a try because they might make them how you prefer.
