| - I went to this ER on 3/16/2015 because an urgent care doctor told me to just hours before. He found that I had an enlarged heart in the chest xray, abnormal EKG results that suggested a lot of serious problems, and a faster heart rate than I should have. He was worried I had un-diagnosed/untreated heart condition(s) that needed immediate medical attention. I arrived at around 9pm and when i mentioned I had an abnormal EKG, I was brought to the back for an immediate second EKG. The results of this second EKG were still abnormal. Then when I was seen by Dr. Michael Suarez, he treated me as a waste of his time. I told him why I was told to go to the ER and showed him the EKG from the urgent care and he said that 'it was not abnormal enough.' From the get-go, the doctor treated me like I was purposely wasting the ER's time, crying wolf, and being a hypochondriac...
Most of all, he spent more time on the phone in front of me than talking/examining me. If it was work-related or an emergency, why didn't he step out of the room? Instead he stays in the room, sits down in a chair and relaxes while he talks on the phone instead of properly examining me. When he did ask a couple questions, he talked over me and didn't even hear what I was saying about my symptoms. All that happened was he heard my coughing and only noted coughing in my report, he ignored the real reason I was there - my heart! He never bothered to hear about my medical or family medical history which includes my dad dying of a heart attack at 45 and us both having the same medical problems..
Ultimately, the ER doc claimed I only had bronchitis, which is not even true. (1. why didn't my PCP doc diagnose me w/ bronchitis back when i saw him on 3/5 when my coughing was at it's worst? 2. why didn't anyone else who lives with me catch this contagious bronchitis? it's been over a month now..) So the ER doctor was very much full of it. But he ordered a chest xray and blood work. Both were not done for hours. I was sent back out to the waiting room by the radiologist after everything was finally done, and waited over 2 hours for results, only to find out that I was misled to the waiting room and the doctor had left HOURS ago. The timing for this does not fit because my chest xray and bloodwork were not done before he left, so he never saw the results, but claimed I only had bronchitis, completely ignoring the heart problems that were the whole reason I went to the ER. So ultimately, he misdiagnosed me because he was being a lazy jerk who only saw what he wanted to see, and didn't feel like further evaluating me and my results.
The discharge nurse (don't know her name. she's a plus size white woman, brown hair, VERY RUDE) had to enter me back into the system because they listed me as leaving without being discharged which is not true because I was in the waiting room the whole time, never even got up from my seat until I went to the reception to ask about my results as it had been over 2 hours. So I never got to talk to any doctor about the procedures' results, nor ever saw any proof of anything. The discharge nurse did my blood pressure cuff so tight that it left purple marks on my upper arm for a week! How can you be a proper nurse and not care/know how to put on a blood pressure cuff?! She was very rude and made inappropriate comments during the long conversation-turned-argument we had. Because she only wanted to believe the doctor who claimed I only had bronchitis, she would not even acknowledge my heart issues, other than saying tachycardia isn't a big deal, etc. She made comments about how I must be someone who is a drug user when I don't smoke/drink/do drugs at all ever in my life, yet for whatever reason, the ER decided to falsely say in the paperwork that I'm a former smoker. Any one would be highly offended by the false insulting remarks she made. Finally I left the ER very mad at 2am. 5 WASTED hrs in the ER where i never even was told any results pertaining to my heart.
Both Dr. Michael Suarez and the discharge nurse should be FIRED because they were highly unprofessional and they only give the hospital ER a bad reputation as being uncaring, dismissive, and offensive to patients. It has been almost 2 weeks since the ER visit, and this whole time I have been suffering from heart problems that the ER decided to ignore. So if I drop dead from this ticking time bomb in my chest, this ER would be to blame for my death. Doctors should examine patients with a fine tooth comb, not ignore their symptoms. They hold lives in their hands and clearly cause people to die or get worse because they don't feel like properly treating and diagnosing patients like myself. I better not be billed for anything since my results were never even looked at! So thanks for NOTHING! I have complained and been very vocal to everyone about the mistreatment and misdiagnosis I received at this ER. It's appalling, other yelp reviews are by loved ones of patients who DIED!
