  • I booked a flight to Vancouver on WestJet thru this agency during a seat sale. The initial price of the ticket was $199+taxes. Done. I ended up having to change my flight (I knew there was a re-booking fee) but then was charged an extra $55 on top of my rebooking fee of $75 because the agent said WestJet had changed the price. I guess the agent figured I was just some passive consumer who would not look into the matter further but when I looked on WestJet's site before going to pay for the flight change the price of the flight I was rebooking on was exactly the same. This is what the agent told me: Date: Fri, 14 Oct 2011 14:13:52 -0400 From: ***********@**********.** Subject: Change fee: To: ***********@********.** Hey Sara, Okay, so the sale price has gone up a little bit since we booked (it was a limited price), nothing bad though. So there is a 75 Change fee and a 55$ change in fare, plus 13% tax. Total there is 137.15. There are two spots left on the flight for cats as well! Give me a call to let me know when you can make it by and I will have everything waiting for you when you get here. Thanks! Take care, ***** ****** Team Leader Flight Centre - Queen and Bathurst ------------------------------- I went and paid for the flight change because I had to but afterwards I went back on the WestJet site right after booking and the price of the flight was the same. I took it upon myself to complain on WestJet's facebook wall about my woes of their ticketing policy to which I was directed to a Guest Relations Specialist who then provided me with this reply: Hello Sara, Darren forwarded your concerns to the Guest Relations team for review. Upon review of your reservation, I found the fare on your new flight on November 8 was booked at the same fare level as the old flight. The only charges that were collected by WestJet for the change was the change fee of $56.50. The only monies submitted to WestJet from your Travel Agent were for the cost of the ticket at $287.16, the change fee of $56.50 and the kennel fee at $56.50. WestJet did not collect any additional fees for a higher fare. I would recommend following up with your Travel Agent and if there are any other concerns, please feel free to advise your Travel Agent to contact me directly at the number below. Thank you for taking the time to bring your concerns to our attention. We look forward to welcoming you onboard a flight in the near future. Flight Center tried to offer me $40 in credit towards a future booking with them to keep me happy and probably to prevent me from emailing west jet about this and actually getting down to the real truth. But indeed I was mislead and paid money I should not have because of flight center. Fast Forward 6 mos: I try to book again with this flight center simply to use my $40 travel credit. I email the team leader to get quotes on dates I wanted to book. He emailed me back, to which I replied and never heard from him again except when he mistakingly emailed me calling me by a different name and send me an email intended for someone else. I ended up booking my flight via westjet website online and didn't deal with anyone. I'll eat the travel credit issued to me by flight center. I don't suggest booking with them. What happened to me BS. I also fly once very often so Flight Center you have lost a good customer. ADIOS!
