  • Well well well, what do we have here... - Its Conflict Kitchen! Its such a shame that it took me such a long time time to try this hidden gem in the heart of Pitt campus. This hipster little stand is blessed with the graces of food from countries that the United States is currently in conflict with. Currently, Conflict Kitchen has Palestinian food--and I urge you to go get in on some of the action and have yourself a full blown food-gasm. Not only are you in for an educational experience about food from other countries, but you're also in for some pretty great falafel (deep fried chick pea goodness), Shawarma (tbh idk what it is but its **off the hook baby**) baba ghanoush with tahini (my personal favorite-- roasted eggplant dip), and mezzo, a delicious cheese plate. My falafel came in a thick, large pita with arugula, tahini, pickled beets, arugula, and tomatoes. Going back later today to get my daily fix of baba ghanoush because Idk if I've ever had such dank eggplant dip in my entire life. Thats how good this place is - I think I've gotten it five times in the past two weeks. They also carry authentic, top-notch olive oil imported from Palestine. Would love for them to offer samples of it and maybe some samples of that nutty delicious cheese plate they got back there. I'm just wondering when there going to start selling imported wine ;) Oh and the people that work there are so nice. This is the type of place I would bring on a hot date to show them how cultured/daring you are. Looking forward to the summer when they debut the Irani menu so I can get my daily dosage of noon-o paneer-o sabzi, kookoo sibzamini (the most bangin potatos you ever had in ur life), etc.. Iranian food is about to be pretty good-- kind of shame there closing the place down. I will never forget the amazing culinary experiences I have had at this place-- thank you owners of Conflict Kitchen for giving me such a groundbreaking experience! Btw-- just a food stand. Bring a blanket to sit down in schenley park to enjoy it, or sit at one of the little tables. Enjoy :)
