I have been staying here for years, ever since I first visited Montreal in 2009. I had many pleasant experiences regardless of which website I booked the room through.
However, I recently had a horrible experience with the management of this hotel and will no longer be staying here again.
Due to unforeseen circumstances, there was a death in the family with the person I was travelling with. There are funeral / grieving events planned throughout the entire weekend when I was supposed to go.
I was unable to stay here and notified them in advance. However, the manager of the hotel asked me to provide a death certificate of the family member as proof and this left a very sour taste in my mouth. I had to chase down my friends grandfather's death certificate and bug them for a copy during a time of extreme grief. I was unable to get a copy and winded up losing $255 on the booking. I had no issues with cancelling any of my other bookings during that weekend even if they were non refundable.
What you guys showed me is that there is no faith or trust in your customers. People don't use death as an excuse to avoid paying. They use it because they have no means to attend due to an unavoidable. Show some compassion next time. Lending a helping hand out to one customer wouldn't have done anything negative to your business or your profits.
