Disclaimer: I am not a professional figure skater. I know nothing about brands or equipment. I just go skating often enough in the winter to the point where it becomes more economical to buy a pair of skates than to keep renting them from rinks.
PRICING
------------
Bought a pair from here 2 years ago for $160 that have held up well. I recently went in with a pair of old skates that had been given to me by a friend, to get the sides stretched out (I have wide feet) and to get the blades sharpened.
Boot stretching was free of charge, and I got my blades sharpened in 5 minutes for $9.
They say they will repurchase skates in good condition for about 30% of the price you bought them at.
SERVICE
--------------
Service felt a little disorganized - there were about 3-4 different families in the store being served by 2-3 people around Christmas, and at times we weren't sure whether we were supposed to keep waiting or if they had forgotten about us. With the exception of one guy and the manager, the staff looked very young so you just have to be a little more proactive about getting their attention and reminding them that you've been sitting there.
That said, the service itself once they get to you is great. I never felt rushed or pressured into a purchase - the reason why the wait is so long is because they actually take the time to make sure you're satisfied with every aspect of your purchase.
They were very patient and attentive with my multiple requests to have different parts of the boots stretched out. They were never rude or pushy with the other families there, despite the language barriers (alot of the customers are immigrant families) and the kids making lots of requests to try different things.
VERDICT
-------------
Overall, a great place for anything skating-related that you could want. Good patient service. Will definitely go back for anything else I need.
