  • I recently attended the resort for a work trip. I am a 24 year old woman who enjoys going out and having a good time after a hard day of work. As I like to say: work hard, yes. Play hard, yes! Upon arrival, I thought to myself that this was a huge and beautiful hotel, which it is. But after being in the hotel for about an hour, I quickly realized this was not going to be quite the little getaway I imagined. This place is a ghost town! I'm pretty sure that the Calico Ghost Town we visited on our trip up from California had more people in it. The bars and room service close at 11pm!! I never saw more than two employees at the front desk (and they sometimes like to hide in their back room for a good 5 minutes while you wait to ask a question or try to get directions). I came during the World Cup and wanted to watch one of the games at 9 a.m. and there was nowhere to watch it but my room...I feel bad for the people in the room next to me (the only other people on our floor) because my shouts and cheers might have left them thinking someone was getting murdered here. The restaurants have no more than two parties in them at a time. Which does mean that they have excellent service. And I do highly recommend the Mexican restaurant located right behind the hotel. The bartender and waiters were very friendly and went out of their way to make our lunch amazing (they knew we were depressed because there was nothing to do). On top of that, the hotel is a labyrinth. My co-worker got lost (twice) trying to get from the parking garage to our room. I consider myself very good with direction, but it even took me a good 15 minutes to find the pool. And since there is so little staff, probably due to the low number of guests, it was nearly impossible to ask for directions anywhere. I would have much rather been stuck in the labyrinth from the 1986 movie with David Bowie and Jennifer Connelly. At least there would have been singing and dancing puppets to keep me entertained. If you are looking for a super quiet, very secluded place to get away and relax, I highly recommend staying here. Otherwise, don't bother. If I ever have to come back here for another convention, I am going to stay in a hotel on the strip and pay for the cab to and from Lake Las Vegas, because it definitely would be worth the expense.
