  • *****TEN STARS...SERIOUSLY! This was one of THE BEST customer service experiences I have EVER had. I purchased my GLK from Phoenix Motor Company (now Mercedes Benz of Scottsdale (MBS)). I was very happy with them...for a while. In 2014, I noticed a gas smell when I would fill up my tank, and took it to back to MBS. They said they were not able to find anything and suggested that I not fill up my tank (intimating that I was making it rain gas all over my car when I would fill it up, which, I assure you, was not the case. I mean seriously, it was like $4/gallon at that time, why would I waste such precious fluid?) Anyway, I tucked my tail between my legs and let it go for a few months and kept my tank at 3/4 full to avoid the aroma in my garage and house. About a month ago, my check engine light came on. I took it to my friendly neighborhood garage, German Auto Service, and they said there was some erosion/leaking in the fuel tank/pump module and that was likely the source of the problem. They said they could fix it for $27, but suggested I take it to the dealership to get it fixed under the terms of my warranty. At that time, my car was still under the original warranty, but I also purchased an extended one, so I wasn't concerned. I took her up to MBS and they stated that the fuel tank is not covered under the warranty and this time suggested, in the nicest way possible, that I was somehow mutilating the fuel tank on purpose and wanted to charge just shy of $1900. I was livid, went to get my car and immediately called Mercedes Benz Corporate Headquarters. Headquarters contacted MBS and worked out a deal to ONLY charge me $450. That is still WAAAY more than $27, so I took my car back to my neighborhood shop and shared the story with them. They contacted Anthony Salani at Schumacher to discuss it, found out that it IS covered by the warranty and I made my appointment for yesterday morning. Within 15 minutes, my car was under their care, I was buckled into my loaner vehicle and on my way to work. Not only did Anthony and his team repair the problem, they also noticed that my engine mounts/bushings needed some updating and took care of that for me as well. Best of all, it was all done the same day...and at NO cost. I plan on singing their praises from the rooftops to everyone I meet. When it's time for my next car (or for any repairs on this one), I will be taking her to Schumacher Mercedes first.
