  • We found ourselves at the Delta Centre-Ville through a Hotwire.com deal and were very pleasantly surprised at what we got for our deal. The service was outstanding from the door where a chasseur greeted us, unloaded our luggage from the car and directed us to find a good parking spot in the underground garage. We returned from the labyrinthine underground parking to find ourselves in the Place Victoria part of the RÉSO, which leads back into the Delta Centre-Ville through the back of the hotel restaurant. At the desk, we were warmly greeted, upgraded to a Premier King room from the Delta double-bed room we had booked and quickly changed over some American cash into Canadian. The chasseur accompanied us to the room, even hanging up our coats for us in the closet. We settled into a comfortable room with a nice view of the Vieux Port. We ordered room service one afternoon (because we thought it would be fun to have poutine delivered in the middle of the afternoon, really, along with a fruit plate) and it arrived quickly, hot, on a nice tray with full setting - a bread basket, glass of water, silverware and cloth napkins. We declined housekeeping when they arrived while we were still in the room planning our day (we felt bad to be sitting there while they worked around us!), but they gently requested that we please at least let them make the bed, refluff the pillows and give us an extra couple towels and were back out of the room in two minutes flat. The service was consistently pleasant, prompt and polite for our entire visit, with not a bit of hesitation while switching fluidly from French to English as soon as they realized which language would be more comfortable for us: the front-desk gentleman who checked us out - Gab - even complimented my attempts at using a few French niceties. Even the chasseur who assisted us with our luggage and checking out was a pleasure, making conversation while he helped us load up our luggage onto the cart, the whole ride down and even chatted with us about our car when we pulled up from the garage (we have a Subaru Impreza WRX with souped-up exhaust - it often draws attention). As we left, he asked my husband to be sure to let me know that he wished us a safe trip and hoped we would return. And we probably will. :) A few small criticisms that kept the fifth star from appearing in this review: 1. The ATM in the lobby would not let me access my Bank of America account, so I had to walk back to the RÉSO to use an ATM down there. 2. The concierge on duty Sunday morning seemed more than a little bit miffed when my husband declined his suggestion of a jazz cafe and asked for a pub recommendation. (We wanted pub grub, which is what my husband asked about.) The pub he then recommended was one we already knew about - and was not even open. 3. The parking situation. We had a spot, but it was tricky to navigate and we ended up parking under Place Victoria instead of the hotel's designated parking. 4. The girl working in the gift shop (Place Piccadilly) gave me wrong change, twice, even after I pointed it out and explained. (I gave up - not worth it over 51c.) 5. A few things could use updating - no wifi, fixtures in the bathroom that were showing their age a bit and a TV that took about 3 seconds per channel to change with the clicker. Even without a Hotwire.com deal, our room would only have been about $150 (Canadian), so it's not an expensive hotel despite the very high-end appearance. Definitely a good value. I'm putting it as $$$, since it is a four star hotel, but it's definitely less pricey than comparable hotels!
