| - My friend and I came in for a haircut. Jin is the owner of the store and she is the only hair stylist. The place decor was nice. We both got our hair shampooed and cut. The wash was quick and I don't recall her using conditioner; perhaps it was a 2-in-1. She was rough with the scalp and it did not feel like a massage. While she was shampooing my hair, she complained about the previous customer. She mentioned how that customer does not know English, there is a lack of communication, and that she is very picky. In fact, while I was waiting for my turn, she was having a fight with the customer in front of me. Of course, I don't know how to respond, so I only smiled and nodded my head. However, it felt extremely rude and unprofessional of her to have complained about a customer to me as I am one of her customers. It made me feel awkward and self-conscious that she too would think I'm picky.
After the wash she sat me down on a chair where the floor was still surrounded with hair from the previous customer; it felt completely unhygienic. I told her I wanted a simple cut: I have black hair with brown tips that I wanted cut. She combed my wet hair, but the ends were tangled; instead of combing it through multiple times, she took the scissors and snipped it off. I cannot judge her technique at cutting my hair as I am not a stylist, but I will say that I have never seen it before and the service was quick. I have never had a haircut that fast before and I had wished she spent more time with it as there was no customer after me.
In the end, I still had brown ends (which I later had re-cut at a different salon) and my friend had informed me that my hair was uneven--one side was longer than the other. Jin told me she had thinned out my hair and that it would be much better. However, I had never wanted layers or to thin out my hair! Please do not cut my hair as you would like; I did not say "surprise me" or to thin out my hair. In the end I was charged $50 for poor service that was rushed. She is NOT efficient; it seems that she does not put in the effort to cut your hair properly or make it even. The next few days I had noticed split ends which I had to go and get a re-cut from a different salon. I was charged for $45 but the service compared to Jin's was amazing and the stylist really took her time and effort into blow drying my hair and making sure that my hair length was the same.
